Bio
I was born and raised in Lancaster, New York, the youngest of a large
family of five siblings and dozens of cousins. My earliest
and happiest memories feature my beloved pets and animal friends, a
passion that has sustained me
throughout my life and led to volunteer work with organizations like
the Seneca Park Zoo, Pet Pride of New York, and the Humane
Society. These days, I am in service to my beloved tabby, Oscar
(see photo). He is a Lollypop Farm discovery, now twelve years
old and running my household as every good feline should.
Oscar, in fact, has such a persuasive personality and keen intellect,
that I do believe if he was equipped with opposable thumbs, he could
hold political office. On second thought, the unfortunate
incident with the neighbor dog, Elvis, might be his undoing if the
media uncovered it.
I found my way to Rochester in April of 1987, after graduating from
Buffalo State College and short radio news stints in Attica, Elmira,
and Buffalo. I felt at home here ever since I arrived on
that idyllic Spring day. So much so that a brief career at WIOD
in sunny Miami, Florida was not enough to lure me away from Rochester
permanently. I left and returned to WHAM in the same year, 1992,
and have been enjoying my morning tea with Chet ever since.
Chet and I are fortunate to share a fantastic chemistry, on the air and
off. Over the years, we have developed a kind of short hand
language and even non verbal communication that has our co-workers Bill
Lowe and Shari Smith often feeling like they don't know what the heck
we're talking about. Chet likes to say he has taken the
baton from my older brother, John, in continuing to harrass me the way
a big brother should. In any event, I am extremely blessed to
share the microphone with someone who is as intelligent, funny, and
quick as my partner, Chet.
When I am not at work, I love to read , see films theater, listen to
music, cook, spend time with my wonderful friends, and especially
explore the world with the most wonderful man I have ever known, my husband, Scott. It took me 43 years to find him and it
was worth every minute of that wait. Many of you know Scott (Pitoniak) as the sports columnist at the Democrat and Chronicle. These days, I love to watch his writing process unfold and see all that goes into it. He is the author of ten books. The latest to be released is a history of Yankee Stadium, entitled, "Memories of Yankee Stadium". He says it's been over forty years in the making, ever since his first trip to the place in September, 1966, "Bobby Richardson Day".
Scott and I were married on August 4, 2007. You can search the journal section of this page for photos and stories of our wedding and our love. I will forever be grateful to this amazing man who has brought so much joy into my life. I continue to see new and wonderful things in him every day.
I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to recall my dear
friend and late colleague, Bill Klein. So many of you have kindly
asked me about our friendship over the years, and it brightens my day
to be able to reminisce and talk about the great bond that
we shared. I do believe that our loved ones who pass before
us have simply experienced a change in scenery, and are
very much alive in our hearts and nearer than we
think.
Thank you for visiting this page. My extremely limited
technological skills notwithstanding, I hope to jazz it up
a bit more in the coming weeks and months. Now, if I can
only get a kid to show me how to do it. |

ready to go home with someone like you. This little lady has a sweet and
loving personality and is looking forward to curling up on the couch with you!

OSCAR'S DOG OF THE WEEK FROM LOLLYPOP FARM---SEPTEMBER 3
Wednesday 09-03-2008 5:33pm ET
Blue is a 5-year-old male Boxer/Lab
mix who was brought to Lollypop Farm because he wasn't adjusting well to the
new baby in the house. Our volunteer dog-walkers say that Blue walks well on
the leash and knows "sit." Blue is a handsome guy with a striking brindle
coat, and he loves attention! Before he goes home, he needs to meet any
resident dogs first. Blue would be best in a home with kids 12 and older. Come
meet him today!
For more information on Blue, please visit www.lollypop.org
