People often ask "When did you first start in radio Barry?"
During my first year in radio:
- 45 RPM records were state of the art
- My car was equipped with an excellent sound system, featuring an 8-Track tape player.
- Bell bottoms were in style, and a white polyester suit hung in my closet.
- Johnny Carson joked about "Peanut" Carter on a regular basis.
- I considered buying one of the first American made imports, a Volkswagen.
- The Susan B Anthony dollar was freshly minted. Unfortunately the first one I picked, I spent as a quarter.
- Billboard's top 40 featured Barbara Streisand, The Bee Gees, Bruce Springsteen and the Eagles.
- Saturday Night Live guest starred Steve Martin and the Blues Brothers.
- Grease starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John was sweeping the nation. Grease is the word.
- Pittsburgh was the sports powerhouse, winning both the World Series and the Super Bowl.
- The first commercial Rap hit was released, "Rappers Delight" by Sugar Hill Gang.
- We watched The “Rockford Files”, “Incredible Hulk”, “All In The Family”, “Mash” and “Barney Miller”, all on free TV.
- Pete Rose of the Cincinnati Reds recorded his 3000th major league hit.
- The first so-called test-tube baby, Louise Brown, was born.
- Nadia Comaneci was every girl's idol and inspired a whole generation of gymnasts.

Proposed Jefferson Rd Improvement Porject

The Project staff with the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will hold an open-house style, public session concerning the Route 252 (Jefferson Road) highway project slated to be under construction next year. The event will be on Today Wednesday, August 27 from 8-10 a.m and from 4-6 p.m. at the NYSDOT Regional Office, located at 1530 Jefferson Road in Henrietta, Monroe County. Both sessions are open to the public. Here is what the proposed finished project may look like. The highway project along Route 252, scheduled to be under construction in 2009-2010, will stretch from Marketplace Drive to Ridgeland Road in the town of Henrietta.
