NY Court of Appeals Sides With Democrats in Redistricting Ruling

New York's highest court has sided with Democrats in the state's congressional redistricting case.

The Court of Appeals has ruled that the state Independent Redistricting Commission will draw new district lines before next year's election.

The lines now in place were drawn by a court-appointed master after the commission failed to agree on a plan.

Republicans had argued the court-ordered plan should stay in place until the next Census.

Throwing out the current map could benefit Democratic candidates.
