UPDATE: The State Votes to Allow the Use of New Electronic Voting Machines

The state Board of Elections has voted to allow the use of new electronic voting machines.

The board says the machines made by ExpressVoteXL underwent many tests and meet all legal requirements.

But some watchdog groups remain opposed to new machines,

They claim the machines could be at-risk for cyber attacks, and -- because the machines use touch-screens -- there are no hand-marked ballots that can be audited later.

And they say they'll explore legal and other avenues to keep the machines from being put to use.
