The New York State Department of Labor is announcing new protections for undocumented immigrants in the workplace.
The goal is to ease the fears of undocumented workers who are afraid to report unscrupulous employers.
As part of a partnership with the federal government, the state will provide temporary protection from retaliation, prosecution and deportation during labor disputes and workplace investigations.
