Man Accused in Officer's Murder Will Face Grand Jury

Kelvin Vickers Jr. is being held without bail after arraignment this morning in Rochester City Court. His preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday morning. Vickers is accused of firing more than a dozen shots into a van holding Rochester Police Officers Tony Mazurkiewicz and Officer Sino Seng. Mazurkieiwcz was fatally injured. Judge Van White called for a moment of silence in the courtroom to honor those who have lost loved ones to gun violence in the city.

There was tremendous presence in court from the Rochester Police Department and the victims' families.

Assistant District Attorney Monica O'Brien says her office will present the case to a grand jury which will have the final say in the charges. For now, Vickers is charged with second degree murder, attempted second degree murder, assault and illegal possession of a weapon.
