VIPER Program Ends

A 60-day law enforcement crackdown on gun violence in Rochester and Buffalo is over, but it's not clear how well it worked.

U.S. Attorney for Western New York James Kennedy will announce results of the so-called VIPER program for Buffalo today, but his office says the numbers for Rochester are still being collected from state and local authorities.

VIPER was launched in both cities in July in response to a surge in shootings.

The focus was on past offenders and people at greatest risk of committing violent crimes.
