More Water to Flow Out of Lake Ontario to Reduce Risk of Spring Flooding

The International Joint Commission will allow more water to flow out of Lake Ontario this winter to help reduce the risk of spring flooding.

The Commission says there is a moderate risk of flooding but says the change in outflow is a modest one.

The change will take effect January 1st and continue through February. If conditions warrant, it could be extended.

The current lake level is three inches above normal, but more than a foot lower than this time last year.
