Guilty Plea From Man Accused of Stabbing RPD Officer on Glendale Park

The man accused of stabbing a Rochester Police officer in the face during an incident back in January is pleading guilty to the crime.

The Monroe County District Attorney's Office says Jamal Dima has pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated assault upon a police officer for stabbing Officer Brian Cala.

Cala and his partner had responded to a home on Glendale Park on January 26th, for reports of a possibly disturbed man. Authorities say that’s when Dima barged out of the door with a knife and stabbed Officer Cala in the face, puncturing his sinus cavity. Officer Cala fired five rounds, one of which struck Dima in the wrist.

Dima is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
