RPD Spends $1.4 Mil in Overtime in Prude Protests

This month's protests of Daniel Prude's death have been costly to the city.

The Rochester Police Department reports it has racked up $1.4 million in overtime costs while controlling nighttime crowds.

One million dollars of that cost came between August 31st and September 13th, as the RPD logged nearly 2,500 overtime hours.

Police also say they used about 6,500 pepper balls to quell unrest during the protests.
