More Charges Filed Against George Moses

Former Rochester Housing Authority Chairman George Moses is facing more corruption charges. Federal prosecutors say Moses is accused of stealing 45-thousand dollars from the State Dormitory Authority while he was head of the Northeast Area Development, or NEAD.

It was back in March that a third federal indictment was brought against Moses. Those charges allege he used funds belonging to NEAD to buy items for himself and others. Moses and Housing Authority secretary Janis White were previously charged with conspiring to defraud Rochester Housing Charities and the social service agency Quad A for Kids. Now a fifth superseding indictment charges both with money laundering, while Moses also faces additional charges of mail and wire fraud.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says in the first half of 2018, Moses conspired to make the authority believe $45,000 it awarded to the NEAD agency was spent on construction to renovate the Freedom Market. That work never actually took place, and NEAD kept the money.
