New York Won't Provide Additional Unemployment Benefits

Governor Cuomo says New York will not apply to provide the additional unemployment benefits recently offered by the Trump Administration.

The governor says he's not sure the president's executive order is legal, and he says it's impossible for the state to quickly redesign its unemployment system to provide the benefits.

The president's order offers $300 in federal benefits, if they are matched by $100 in state benefits.

That could potentially cost the state $4 billion, at a time when it is already facing a $14 billion deficit.
