RCSD Superintendent Details Reasons for Remote Learning to Start School

Rochester City School District Superintendent Lesli Myers-Small is speaking out following the news yesterday that all students in all grades will be learning online for at least the first ten weeks of the coming school year.

Myers-Small says the health and safety of all students, teachers and staff is her top priority. She added that instead of having to pivot quickly mid school year should the coronavirus force schools to close, she wanted to start off with remote learning making sure all the correct tools are in place.

Myers-Small says the size of the district was also one of the contributing factors to making the decision.

She says she wanted to make sure a student's educational needs came first. Myers-Small says every student will have access to technology to make online learning as easy as possible.
