Schumer Announces $4.5 Million to Repair Sodus Bay Flood Damage

Senator Chuck Schumer is launching a new push to get aid for parts of Wayne County hit by last spring's flooding on Lake Ontario.

In Sodus Point, Schumer announced $4.5 million in funding for the Army Corps of Engineers to restore the Charles Point Barrier Beach. It was partly washed away, threatening to undermine the houses on Charles Point above.

Schumer also called for continued high releases of water from Lake Ontario by the International Joint Commission before there's a repeat of last Spring's flooding, and for scrapping the Plan 2014 that the IJC follows in regulating the Great Lakes.

This week, the International Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Board said Lake Ontario is close to a record high for this time of year.
