Republicans Begin Candidate Selection Process For NY-27

Republican party leaders in the eight counties in the 27th Congressional District have begun the process of selecting a candidate for the special election.

They met Monday without deciding on a candidate.

Meantime, another possible candidate has emerged -- Erie County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw. The others are state Senators Chris Jacobs and Rob Ortt, and former Darien Town Justice Beth Parlato.

The Democrat in the race is Nate McMurray, who ran for the seat in 2018.

The winner in the special election will succeed former Congressman Chris Collins.
