The Woman who Helped Two Inmates Escape; Could be Paroled Next Year

The prison worker who helped two convicted murderers escape in 2015 may be close to being paroled.

Joyce Mitchell is serving 2 1/3 to 7 years in prison for assisting the escape. She has been tentatively approved for parole in February.

The parole board will have the final say.

She supplied Richard Matt and David Sweat with tools they used to break out of the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora in 2015.

The men were on the run three weeks before Matt was killed and Sweat was recaptured.
