Three Albion Middle School Students Arrested

Albion Police have arrested three Albion Middle School students, all under the age of 16, for planning an attack against the school.

Albion Police Chief Roland Nenni says the three had a plan and had picked a date for their attack before authorities became aware of it through a social media post. Chief Nenni says the three students have been detained on charges of second degree criminal conspiracy. He says the attack was not imminent, and police stationed extra officers at the school to make sure nothing happened this week.

In a letter on the district's website the School Superintendent said inappropriate and threatening messages and images were shared in person, on the phone and via an online gaming app.

Governor Cuomo's office says in a statement in part "any person posing a threat to our schools will face the harshest possible penalty under the law - whether or not they intend to actually execute that threat."
