Board to Keep Lake Ontario Outflow at Record Level

U.S. and Canadian regulators say they'll keep the outflow from Lake Ontario at record levels through the summer.

The Lake Ontario - St. Lawrence River Board says water levels are beginning to decline on the lake with drier weather and the outflow through the dam at Massena continuing aat more than 367,000 cubic feet per second...the highest it's ever been, and higher than spelled out by Plan 2014. They say any more would force a shutdown for shipping on the St. Lawrence River and resulting economic disruption. But the board will keep the flows at the record high until Lake Ontario drops by at least a foot.
