New International Joint Commission Members Approved by Senate

United States Senator Chuck Schumer says the senate has confirmed a former State Assemblywoman as the next U.S. co-chair of the International Joint Commission. Schumer's office says Jane Corwin has been confirmed by the senate, as well as Robert Sisson and Lance Yohe as IJC Commissioners.

Corwin represented parts of Niagara and Erie Counties in the Assembly, and she's familiar with the concerns of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie shoreline property owners.

The IJC is the body responsible for setting Lake Ontario's water levels. With the senate action, the U.S. has filled its vacant seats on the commission. Senator Schumer is calling on the Canadian Parliament to approve its IJC members so the commission has a quorum.
