ELA Tests Are Back on For Thursday and Friday

The New York State Education Department says computerized ELA testing of elementary and middle school students will resume Thursday and Friday for grades five and eight.

The testing was held up when computer glitches kept some school districts from logging their students in on Monday. Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia says they've worked around the problem by staggering the number of testers on the system at any one time, meaning it shouldn't get overloaded. Paper-based tests will be offered to schools that prefer that option.

This is the second year in a row that testing administered by Questar Assessment on behalf of the state ran into problems.
