The deputy was on patrol overnight on Clover Street near Mendon Ponds Park when he spotted flames coming from a garage. He alerted the fire department then evacuated two adults and five children from the home. The sheriff's office says the fire apparently started in a chicken coop, then spread to the garage. The exact cause is under investigation.
