Webster School Board Approves Change For Start Times

Changes are coming to the Webster Central School District. The district's board of education voted Tuesday to move the secondary start time back to about 8:45 a.m. starting in 2019-20. Elementary school students, in turn, will have their start time moved up to about 7:45 a.m. The district said it will spend the next year communicating the details.  Research has shown sleep deprived teenagers not only do worse in school, but are at risk for a variety of health and social concerns that could be alleviated with a few more hours' sleep in the morning. The Brighton, Fairport and Pittsford school districts have all discussed later start times recently but have not made significant changes.
