The Red Cross is assisting roughly 20 people displaced by the fire this morning that destroyed a Rochester apartment house.
The fire on Portland Avenue, near Lux Street, broke out shortly after 7 a.m. and went to two alarms. Flames were visible from the attic and firefighters helped the residents get out, including a person in a wheelchair.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. What's left of the house will have to be demolished.
