Police in Buffalo say an officer is recovering from a gunshot wound and the person who shot him is dead.
The gunfight happened during a traffic stop late yesterday afternoon in North Buffalo. The officer was shot in the head during a scuffle with the person who was stopped.
Another officer shot and killed the suspect.
The wounded officer had surgery last night and is expected to recover.
