Votto also homered, and Jay Bruce added a solo home run for the Reds, who have won four of six. Reds starter Josh Fogg gave up five runs on four hits in three innings before leaving with a strained right groin suffered while running the bases. Nick Masset (2-0) picked up the win after allowing one run in two innings of relief. Craig Hansen (1-6) gave up three runs in one-third of an inning to take the loss for the Pirates, who had won two straight after dropping 10 in a row. Pirates starter Tom Gorzelanny surrendered three runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings and took a no-decision. Ervin Santana (15-5) gave up one run on six hits in 7 1/3 innings to get the win. He also struck out eight and walked one. Curtis Granderson homered for the Tigers, who have dropped eight of their last 11 contests. It was another rough outing for Kenny Rogers (9-13), who lost for the seventh time in his last eight trips to the bump. The 43-year-old was tagged for six runs on eight hits in just two-plus innings of work. Aquilino Lopez and Nate Robertson combined to allow one run on six hits in seven innings of relief. |
